Big Changes Coming in MS Expungement Law.

The MS Legislature passed HB 1352 in April of 2019 that greatly expanded the types of convictions eligible to be expunged. Governor Bryant approved it on April 16, 2019 with an effective date of July 1, 2019. Prior to this bill, the only felonies eligible to be expunged, other than those non-adjudicated, were possession of drugs, bad checks, grand larceny, malicious mischief, false pretense, or shoplifting. After July 1, 2019, a number of other offenses will be eligible for expungement. Contact Sumrall & Welch if this could effect you.
